Memorial Day 2020 Activity Report
23 May 2020
On 23 May 2020, the City of Methuen, Massachusetts held a Memorial Day cemetery service (minus the parade), that was organized and run by American Legion Post 122, Methuen, MA.
I was the sole member of the USNDC in attendance for this event.
I was requested to stand in for the American Legion Chaplain as he was not able to attend this ceremony. So, I gave the opening prayer and the closing prayer for the ceremony.
This ceremony was filmed by Methuen Community television to be aired on Memorial Day.
There was also a photographer from the Lawrence Eagle-Tribune newspaper, so we are getting some free advertising as they have photos of me in uniform that are going to be in the paper along with our organization name.
This should be viewed as a positive experience, not only for the Chaplain Corps but for the USNDC overall, because the communities that the Lawrence Eagle-Tribune serve will now be aware that we exist.
I am attaching photos from the event so that they may be posted on the website as you see fit.
Respectfully,
LCDR Roy W. Stevens III
Chief of Chaplains, USNDC
