Washington, D.C. 20510
Dear Senator Tillis,
My name is Lieutenant General (USNDC) Allen A. Baumann, National Commander, United States National Defense Corps (USNDC), a 501(c )(3), non-profit military corporation. We have about 12,000 Hmong/Lao former members of the Special Guerrilla Unit (SGU), their spouses and children; many reside in North Carolina.
I am writing regarding the legislation –The Hmong Congressional Gold Medal Act. In the strongest words, we, the USNDC are humbled that you have taken such action. During the Viet Nam War, as a U.S. Army Special Forces Officer, I served in Studies and Observation Group (SOG) under similar conditions. Our Hmong/Lao Americans served alongside us and now deserve the recognition for their bravery and dedication to the principles of freedom and liberty given freely as fellow Americans.
As their National Commander, representing about 12,000 Hmong/Lao, many from the great state of North Carolina, I urge you to continue pursuing the prestigious honor of The Hmong Congressional Gold Medal Act. Please visit our website: www.usndefensecorps.org. We look forward to celebrating your generous work for us.
Thank you for your time; if we may help, let me know.
Sincerely yours,
ALLEN A. BAUMANN
