The USAF tried to stop the NVA movement down the Ho Chi Minh Trail in contrast to the Hmong/Lao Fighters who attacked the NVA on the ground.
Both were extremely dangerous missions; however, the USAF guys are Veterans whereas our Hmong/Lao Fighters are still seeking recognition as Veterans and to be honored with the Hmong Congressional Gold Medal.
The USAF Fighters were decorated; Bud Day received the Medal of Honor (deserved for sure) whereas the Hmong/Lao Fighters were ‘left behind’ to fend for themselves. When the Hmong/Lao Fighters were captured, there was no Hanoi Hilton time (obviously not a fun time for them) …one can only wonder the duration of life of the Hmong/Lao Fighter.
